The weather yesterday and Sunday was not so good, rather cloudy. On Sunday I decided it was not nice enough to go to the coast so I headed inland to Bodmin moor to find Jamaica Inn. Well, what a disappointment!. It was not at all as I remember it when I last visited which I admit was probably nearly sixty years ago on a coach trip with my grandma and granddad. I remember it being just at the side of the road and in my mind it was whitewashed. The main A30 road is now a duel carriageway and Jamaica Inn is in a little side road just off the main road. It is now a hotel and is surrounded by so many newer buildings that it's hard to tell which bit is the original inn. And.. it's not whitewashed at all. Anyway took a couple of photos of what I think is the original inn, behind the beer garden!!!
Day 18 of my big adventure and a beautiful sunny day. I was working on Monday but decided to go out later in the afternoon to get some fresh air. Walked down into Camelford which is rather strange little town, full of odd shops, most of which were closed anyway. I did find a nice little park though at the side of a little river. Very pretty. Today as I said has been a lovely sunny, warm day so I headed first to Port Isaac. It was very much as I expected it to be, having seen it so many times on TV in Doc Martin and at the cinema in Fisherman's Friends. It was really busy so I dread to think what it must be like in the main summer holidays. There were little groups going on Doc Martin tours!. I did look around for some of the filming locations and recognised a few, the school, Louisa's house, Bert's restaurant, and of course Doc Martin's house. Bought a postcard with them all on. I think I have managed to capture 5 out of the 8. Next stop was Polzeath. A stunningly beautiful beach which is very popular with surfers.
