I also used some really thick grey yarn which I have a bag full of to knit a beanie hat. It just needs a pom pom and there will be enough yarn for several more.
When I was away in Somerset I bought 4lb of damsons to make some jam which I started on Thursday and finished off on Friday morning. I find the best way to remove the stones from damsons in to boil them until they are soft, allow them to cool and then go through the mixture a bit at a time with gloves on and remove the stones. This way is actually quicker and easier than trying to cut the stones out beforehand and less wasteful. Damsons make good jam which sets well. The 4lb made 4 large and 2 small jars.
I am writing this in the caravan. arrived yesterday. A last minute idea of Mark and Michelle who asked if I would like to join them. Mark put the gazebo up and then put windbreaks all around to make a cosy den which worked very well and we have been able to sit out all day.
After lunch we went to Coughton Court and walked around the grounds which was very pleasant.
