There was also a lovely old caravan. | |
Went to Beamish open air museum today. Weather cloudy and a bit threatening but very warm. Similar to the Black Country Museum and Blists Hill with exhibits that have been moved there and rebuilt, but over a much larger area with lots of walking involved and lots of countryside. The fist area I visited was the pit village with all the pit workings, steam train and pit cottages. The cottages were single story with two rooms, one at the front and one at the back, which was also the bedroom. The gardens were used to grow vegetables and keep birds and some had workshops at the back. There was also a school. The next place I visited was the town with shops, a bank, a garage and a carters. At this point it started to rain so I ducked into the tea rooms for tea and cake. It stopped raining so I took a few more photos and then caught the bus back to the car park.
