Writing this in a hotel room on the Wirral. I thought it would be nice to get away for a few days. Earlier today I visited Port Sunlight. I have been a couple of times before but it never ceases to fascinate me. It must have seemed like paradise for the Lever workers who came to live there after the squalor of cities like Manchester and Liverpool. The houses are amazing, each one designed by different architects. They remain the property of Port Sunlight but are apparently available to rent. They are all grade II listed. I recognised one area, known as The Dell, in an episode of Peaky Blinders.
When I left Port Sunlight I went to a viewpoint overlooking the river/estuary and took a few photos looking across to Liverpool. The estuary is tidal and the tide was low. I could clearly pick out the most famous landmarks including the Anglican Cathedral which is huge and dominates the skyline. Personally I think it is rather ugly but it was chosen from several designs submitted at the time. The architect Giles Gilbert Scott also designed the red telephone box and Battersea Power Station. (I rest my case).
I was working a lot last week but my main project is now finished so it should slow down a bit now. Went to the cinema with Mark, Michelle, Anais and Roman to see Military Wives which was excellent. Made you want to laugh and cry and provided an insight into what it must be like to be married to someone in the military.

Still working on my picture framing. I think I have about 20 now ready to hang but don't want to start hanging till I have them all so I can arrange them. Bought some more black paint but it was the wrong type and it made the layer underneath bubble so now I have to sand down and start again. Had more success with gold paint though. I bought a tube of gold paint from Poundland which has given really good results. Will try and get them all finished this week when I get back.
