Met Mark and the family in Ikea on Friday and got all the things I needed to finish the conservatory. I got the tall Billy bookcase, some plastic plants and some magazine files. Mark and Roman put the bookcase together for me and I have had fun filling it.  Photo not good as it has missed off the top and bottom shelves.
Today I met up with Mark, Michelle and Roman for a tour of the Morgan car factory in Malvern. Really interesting. They are all hand built, not a robot in sight, and are made individually rather than a track system. The chassis and body panels are all aluminium but ash wood is used in the construction, The interior is all leather. The engines are BMW but they have no fancy gadgets. They have about 12 coats of paint and lacquer are are sprayed by hand. The craftsmanship that goes into the build in amazing, passed down through the years (some of the machinery is antique). Neither Mark nor myself thought for one moment that photographs would be allowed so neither of us took proper cameras and ended up having to rely on our phones. Hence photos not very good.

I treated myself to a little souvenir of my visit. No not a car (I wish). Just a little bear to hang on my keys.

I have now made the three cushion fillings for the latch hook cushions.

Last week I decided to get some gardeners in to get up all of the leaves and to give all of the bushes a good trim. They arrived this morning in full force. 2 small lorries with chipper, a pick up truck and four men. They made a thorough job of it and I got them to take away the Christmas tree!
Have finished the other two latch hook cushion covers. Pity I've just missed Christmas and Valentines day!

Have put some rugs on the floor and some furniture back in the conservatory including the new chair I got the other day. Not finished yet as I want a bookcase to store things on and some more plants. Getting there though.
Last Friday night I went to see the Travelling Wilburys Experience at Malvern which was brilliant. They did some Wilburys tracks and also some of the well known records from each of the individual artists. Just in case anyone has forgotten who was in the Travelling Wilburys there was George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Roy Orbison. Some of the tracks covered included Mr Blue Sky, Roll Over Beethoven, Pretty Woman, The Mighty Quinn, The Answer is Blowing in the Wind, Here Comes the Sun, Only the Lonely, Handle with Care, Wilbury Twist, Anything you want you got it, I Drove all Night, Sweet Talking Woman, In Dreams, I Won't Back Down, All Over the World, Got My Mind Set on You, You're not Alone any More, End of the Line and My Baby.

I am trying to work my way through the vast amounts of crafty stuff in my craft room and get things finished off. Yesterday I decided to attempt to make a cushion cover out of a latch hook picture I made ages ago. I wasn't quite sure how it would work out sewing the backing with the huge holes and the tough fibres. Anyway it wasn't as bad as I thought and I used a zipper foot to get close to the edge of the woollen pile. One down, two to go!. Just need a cushion to go in it now.

Have now finished the hat to match the cardigan and done some more work on the Water Garden CAL that I started ages ago. Most of the pieces now joined and then I have to crochet a border.

Some time last year I bought new taps and waste for the sink in the downstairs loo and have now finally got round to getting a plumber to fit them. I think they look quite nice.

I have also painted the dwarf walls in the conservatory with two coats of magnolia. I bought wallpaper for the house wall but when I gave the wall a quick coat of white the other day I realised that I was not tall enough to reach up and hang paper. My sciatica is also playing up and reaching up is not good so today I got a decorator in to do it for me. He was very quick and I'm pleased with the result. There were some awkward pieces to hang. The only thing he didn't do was clean up after himself so I had to wipe all the paste off every where before it dried. Anyway all done now so I can concentrate on getting it furnished. I think a visit to Ikea is calling!

On Friday I took Michelle with me to Blackheath market to get some buttons for my cardigan. It's a really good traditional market and good for crafters with stalls selling yarn, fabric, haberdashery and card making bits. It also has a great stall for goodies.

Went to see the new production of Animal Farm at the Birmingham Rep on Saturday afternoon. I read Animal Farm at school as many other people did. All puppets like War Horse and very good.

On Sunday Michelle sent me a message from one of her crafty friends to say there was a spinning wheel for sale at a charity shop in Stratford for just £25. She knew I was interested in getting one. The shop was not open on Sunday so on Monday morning I rang up and paid for it and on the afternoon I took Michelle with me to collect it. I also picked up a dining chair to sit at the table in the conservatory and a couple of plant pots. The spinning wheel needed the fixings tightening up a bit and a good clean and polish. A bit of investigation by Mark revealed that it was made by a company called Ashford who are based in New Zealand. Unfortunately there are a couple of things missing, a strange thing called a 'standard flyer' which I think winds the spun yarn onto the bobbin and there are no bobbins. Still I have no immediate plans to use it so I can look around.

So glad January is over with.

I now have some photos from Tracey's 50th party. I have known Tracey since she was 18 and a trainee at Dudley Chamber. She is married to Adam. They got married 10 yeas ago this year in Portmeirion in Wales. She has a younger sister Sally and two nieces Holly and Millie. Our friend Shuby was another trainee but a few years younger.
Got my hair done on Friday and went to see Same Time Next Year at Malvern on Saturday. Very good, though very American.

My knitting is growing and have now completed both sleeves. Just need to do the front bands and neck.

Changed the bathroom to pink and white in anticipation of Spring.
