Have just made a batch of 16 little crumbles in ramekins for the freezer.  Just the right size for one person.  There are 9 apple and mincemeat, 4 rhubarb and 3 cherry with a spoonful of brandy. I have half a jar of cherries left and no more dishes so will have to have a think about what to do with the rest tomorrow.

Easter at home

By rights I should be in Chipping Norton now in the caravan but instead I am sitting at the dining room table at home.  I always go away for Easter but this year it was just too cold and horrible so I cancelled my holiday till the end of April and instead spent Easter at home - which was actually quite nice as I was able to spend some time with the family.

I had a lovely day yesterday with Mark, Michelle and the children.  We went to the cinema in the morning to see Parental Guidance, which was very funny, then after luch we went to Becketts Farm Shop to see the baby animals.  The little lambs had wooly cardigans on to keep them warm.  So cute!  The one in blue was having trouble with the sleeves as they were a bit long. Mark then cooked a lovely dinner and we sat and chatted about crafts and looked at websites.

Today I was looking farward to catching up with Richard and Debbie and children but they sent a message to say that none of them were very well so get well soon!! (and I guess I will just have to eat the lemon cakes myself).

Snow and the NEC

On Thursday 21st Anais was playing in a school music concert at the Adrian Boult Hall in Birmingham so I went there straight from work.  The concert was excellent but when we came out it was snowing and very cold.  Got to work OK on the Friday, hardly any snow in Coventry! Typical! Left work a bit early though as it was getting worse.  By Saturday morning had about 6 inches.  Was all ready to do a table top sale down at Hagley with some of my craft things but no chance!  Next door moved my snow which was very nice of them but it snowed again overnight.  Had a ticket for the Hobby Craft show at the NEC and was not at all sure about going but made the decision, got the train times, dug the car out and off I went! Was really glad I did as it was not as packed as sometimes and I was able to have a really good look round and picked up a few bargains!  The scarf wool was just £3 and I think will look quite elegant when knitted.

These books of decoupage sheets and papers were just £1 each.  I used one of the decoupage sheets to make an anniversary card for Richard and Debbie.

Sewing jars

A few weeks ago I made some jars full of sewing utensils, following an idea I saw in a book of Anais'. I used some material I had by me for the pincushion lids but was not really happy with the result.  When I went to Birmingham to the theatre to see The Full Monty, (yes I did get some odd looks from friends and family!),  I popped on the rag market and bought some half yards of several pretty prints and ginghams so I decided to re-do the lids and added sone pearl headed pins and labels - much better!

Teddies in sweaters

Michelle got me some 12" teddy bears from the closing down sale at Clinton's Cards. Together with the two I got myself a couple of weeks previously I now had 7 bears, four cream and three brown.  I decided to knit some little sweaters for them, give them names and sell them at the next craft fair I did.  The next craft fair was on the Wednesday after I returned from holiday, in the lunchtime at work. Just myself and two ladies who make cards.  I managed get four bears ready, Charlie, Bertie, Henry and Fraser (who had a cable knit sweater).  I sold Fraser and had an order from a lady who wanted one as a present for a new baby so she wanted a cream bear with a pink sweater.  I also added a pink bow on the ear.

More flowers and hearts

Not very good at this blogging lark!  Have got all behind! will attempt to catch up.

The last couple of days of the holiday were rainy  so decided to stay in and work on some crafts.  Following the success of the purple flowers I decided to do some in the pink mohair wool that I bought the other day.  As this wool was thinner than the purple I used it double and followed the same pattern.  The resulting flower was OK but I felt it should be bigger so I added more stitches and tried again, Better but still not full enough so I added yet more stitches and the result is on the left.

Thought I would have a change from crochet and do some sewing. I brought an assortment of pretty fabrics with to make some little hearts and birds to hang from a garland. I thought people could select which ones they wanted and make up their own design. I have two colour schemes, red and pink.  I made some patterns in paper and card and cut out some in each fabric. I managed to finish 6 of the red ones and there are plenty more cut out and ready to sew.
