There was an amazing dress that was only found in 2016 and had been packed away for the last 200 years so it was in excellent condition.
A National Trust scone and cup of tea completed my visit!
Tuesday was a nice day so I decided to go Berrington Hall, just outside Leominster. It is a Georgian mansion with landscaping by Capability Brown. The glass dome is currently under repair so I went on a tour to see the work in progress. I forgot to take a camera so not many photos, just a few taken with my phone. As usual I am more interested in the work areas than in the grand rooms. There was a washboard exactly the same as the one used as a shelf in my room at the Fitzroy last week. I would love a washboard for my laundry room at home but have not yet seen one for sale. My uncle Monty used to play the washboard in the skiffle group that my parents played in when I was about 3. There was an amazing dress that was only found in 2016 and had been packed away for the last 200 years so it was in excellent condition. A National Trust scone and cup of tea completed my visit! Next stop was Leominster, an interesting market town with lots of antique shops and no less than three knitting and sewing shops!!! One of the shops, Clever Betsy, is a charity shop which sells donated wool, fabric and other craft materials and provides workshops. The prices were very reasonable (e.g. the rug wool was 10p each) so I was like a kid in a sweet shop. I might even go back again for another look. (Yes I know I am not supposed to buy any more stuff but.....)
