We later turned onto the Llangollen canal and over both the Chirk and the Pontcysyllte aquaducts which was amazing (so long as you have a good head for heights). We spent a couple of days in Llangollen and then turned round to come back. A very memorable holiday.
Today I caught the local bus just outside the site into Devizes town which is about 4 miles away. It is a nice town with a market square and lots of little streets and alleyways. I had a good look around and then had lunch in Greggs. Weather as you can see was bright and sunny. I was back for about 2.00pm so decided to go for a walk along the canal towpath. There was a wide variety of boats including some wider 'Dutch barge' types and a lovely family of ducklings. One boat I saw had washing hanging at the front which reminded me of some years ago we were on a hire boat with Richard and Debbie on the Shropshire Union canal heading towards Llangollen. One morning Debbie and I were on the back of the boat when another boat came towards us with washing hanging at the front, large ladies pants! Well we just looked at one another and went 'Bridget Jones's' and burst out laughing. We had to compose ourselves quickly before the owners of the boat came alongside. We later turned onto the Llangollen canal and over both the Chirk and the Pontcysyllte aquaducts which was amazing (so long as you have a good head for heights). We spent a couple of days in Llangollen and then turned round to come back. A very memorable holiday.
